Whats the difference between hypnosis and meditation? 

In short, mediation describes a state of  stillness; body and mind. Hypnosis describes a state of mind with attributes of physical disassociation and mind being more focussed and more open to suggestion. A traumatic event, like a car accident, is an exaggerated example of hypnosis because during it, the person is disassociated from their body (pain kicks in after the event is over) and they are highly suggestible at that time. Hypnosis is also being experienced when you drove across town, speaking on your cell phone, and arrive at your destination without being able to recall anything from your trip.
